The 5 Second Rule

Split-Second Decisions!

Practice going with your gut-instinct more often and reap the benefit!

You INSTINCTIVELY know what to do.

Here's the problem;

We all know what to do, but we don't always... DO WHAT WE KNOW!

Five Second Rule

Have you heard the expression "The 5-second rule"?

Try it! Here's a link to my prompt sheet

It can make the difference between following your instinct or talking yourselves out of it.

Here's how ...

Say in your head - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 (Go Go Go) and launch into the moment without hesitation.

If you tend to let your mind-chatter talk you out of things, use the 5 second rule but count backwards, so say - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

The science behind it ...

The thought process between Yes or No, equates to the 5 second gap between decision made and our mind chatter telling us otherwise!

So go for it.

Break the habit of procrastination and self-doubt.

Surprise yourself.

Change your life in 5 seconds. It's really that simple according to Mel Robbins as she explains in her best selling book of the same title. Check out the link above.

As Mel explains:

Throughout your life, you've had parents, coaches, teachers, friends and mentors who have pushed you to be better than your excuses and bigger than your fears. What if the secret to having the confidence and courage to enrich your life and work is simply knowing "how" to push yourself? Using the science of habits [...] Mel Robbins will explain the power of a push moment.

"The secret isn't knowing what to do, it's knowing how to make yourself do it."

During difficult times, it's more important than anything to be decisive;

  • Seek clarity
  • Rid yourself of clutter
  • Make those savings
  • Try a more minimal approach

Start as you mean to go on, so that when you start to 'feel the heat' you're one step ahead of the fire!
