This lone figure is Andrew (Vern) Stokes, Senior Soldier, Garrison Sergeant Major London, Defence Ceremonial Expert. In his post on social media, following Her Majesty's funeral, he said:
"I might look alone in this first photo, I wasn’t, there were many hands on my shoulder."
"I have never been part of a more magical team, supported by the most amazing people; at work by the superb Military and Civil Service planning team in Horse Guards and the London Military Operations Centre and a whole raft of hugely professional and impressive organisations, friends and colleagues."
Let us remember ...
It has been an incredible 11 days, the outcome of which was the dignified last journey of Her Majesty by her Armed Forces; the organisation of which was meticulous.
A superb endeavour.
In my earlier post, when I wrote about New Beginnings, I did not imagine, for one moment, that we were about to lose our dearest Queen Elizabeth II.
I did not write my blog last week (out of reverence and respect for Her Majesty and her Realm), as we were a nation in mourning, We have so much to learn from not only her years of service, to our country, but also of her dignified passing.
I was not in the UK at the time but felt so much a part of the her last journey, thanks mostly to the BBC coverage, that I was able to watch from my home in Spain. It helped me feel connected.
I needed that.
We all have a place of peace, calm and wisdom within.
It's available to us at any time.
We don't have to invent it.
True ... life has drawn us further and further away from it.
Living in a perpetual state of distraction means that we may struggle to connect with our deeper selves but this week we did, and we did so as a nation.
In so doing, we ensure her legacy lives on.
