"Too often we underestimate the
power of a touch, a smile, a kind
word, a listening ear, an honest
compliment, or the smallest act of
caring, all of which have the power
to turn a life around”. [Leo Buscaglia]
What small act are you going to do today that will make a difference to someone’s day?
Small Steps, BIG DIFFERENCE!
A smile, a thank you, a kind word can make such a difference.

I am not a Happiness Guru but I can tell you ...
The past months have been a catalyst for change.
Something BIG is happening and it's time to take notice of how we live our lives.
I was still wearing my chemo wig when my husband was hit by a car (and survived) some years ago.
My story is one of strength, courage and resilience.
You'll have heard the expression:
'Mind Over Matter'
That's all very well but ...
What if the 'matter' is all consuming to the point where it becomes totally OVERWHELMING and debilitating?
Let me tell you ...
After years of learning, studying, reading and qualifying in both the Teaching and Business profession, culminating in a Masters in Business - MBA (having followed my dreams and co-authored a book with a lecturing colleague), I've discovered that the #1 most effective way to manage my mindset, motivatio...
As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, I've decided to focus on happiness .... and why should I choose this as my key topic?
It's a hot topic!!
Happiness isn't something you can pluck from a takeaway list of essential and desirable characteristics, and yet, if you Google the term 'happiness' it returns about 4,360,000,000 results!
In fact Happiness was searched more than ever on Google Search in 2020 (and 2021). People went online to look for hope. 'Google’s year-in search term proved how much people across the world were struggling throughout to survive the COVID-19 pandemic'.
One of the top topics (no surprise here) being 'Health and Happiness'. They go hand-in-hand. I'm sure you'd agree but they are both equally distinct and bear no relationship to one another in terms of definition and to assume so leads to confusion.
For example, you can be of poor health and yet still feel a sense of inner peace and contentment. You may be happy but blissfully unaware of how to reach your...
1) Conversation Starters
However you approach this... start a conversation about improving our listening skills under the banner of improving our mental health. Here's a poster to get you talking:
2) Time to Talk
Create a poster around dealing with the sense of overwhelm that sometimes comes over us. Make it fun and upbeat and offer guidance, under the banner of the heading 'Time to Talk Day'.
There are some great resources you can download from time-to-change.org.uk
3) Elevenses!
This may be an English tradition but talking time for elevenses means taking a short break for light refreshments, usually with tea or coffee, taken at about eleven o'clock in the morning!
Start a group meet-up or virtual meet up at eleven every Wednesday and get people to join in.
Have a go - I've had great success with this. In the winter I called it 'hug-a-mug' day!
4) Run an Event
All the materials you'll need to run an event or activity in your community, school or workplace c...
Here are a few ideas to use as themes for Wellness Wednesdays:
Create a Roadmap
One of the simplest approaches to creating rich content, that provides wellness 'prompts', is to create a roadmap of activities that help the individual or organisation to explore and refine their approach to wellness, in order to help them reach their full wellness potential. See the diagram above.
This is the roadmap for our course that we've been running with the local city council.
The course is called 'Think Backwards (to Fast Forward your Life).
Breakthrough without the Overwhelm
Often when we look for a course to help up take our wellness up a notch, the length of the course and commitment needed to complete it, creates a further sense of overwhelm, which is the last thing we need. Keep it simple.
For most, when they are trying to find a better approach or a better way forward, it involves progressing from A to B:
1) Firstly, STOP the Scroll Envy!
Extract from my E-Book 'Survive & Thrive':
How many times do we stop scrolling when we see an image or article that shines a spotlight on another success?
Reading someone's success story can often leave us feeling inadequate in comparison.
They appear so confident, don't they? Don't compare yourself.
Do you ever think... 'I wonder if they're enjoying their success?'
2) Be Sceptical - Acing it but Overwhelmed!
Sadly, those who are outwardly confident, look polished, accomplished and successful are all too often 'acing it' but overwhelmed. That's if what you see can be believed even. It's easy to paint a picture on social media of how life is (or isn't) when it's just a snapshot in time.
3) Ditch the Comparison Envy!
Are you tired of feeling dissatisfied?
Wonder when it's your turn to shine?
What are you telling yourself?
People say 'be careful what you wish for' but I say.... wish to your heart's content! Imagine your best lif...
What's that about and why not Same Old Wednesday?
The past months have been a catalyst for change.
There's a BIG shift happening and it's time to take notice of how we live our lives.
